Thermal Labels

Thermal labels play an important role in many businesses, from printing barcodes and inventory data to shipping information and more.

Thermal transfer and direct thermal are the two types of thermal printers used for these kinds of applications, each offering its own advantages. Thermal transfer is more expensive but offers higher-quality printing, while direct thermal is less expensive but has poorer print quality.

Thermal transfer printers use a ribbon combined with heat to imprint on the label. These labels are durable as they are not as likely to scratch or fade. Both paper and polypropylene can be used to produce thermal transfer labels

Direct thermal printers apply heat directly (without the use of a ribbon) to the special label substrate. This causes a chemical reaction in the label, producing the intended image. Direct thermal is ideal for short term usage such as shipping and barcode labels
